First Report of Rose Bent Neck Caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum on Commercial Cut Roses (Rosa hybrida L.)
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cut roses are highly valuable ornamentals and their profitability depends on the flower postharvest performance. Bent neck symptoms in make them unmarketable typically related to physiological disorders, bacteria accumulation vase solution, Botrytis cinerea infection. Unusual bent were observed 4.7% of ‘Orange Crush’ from two commercial shipments, resulting complete collapse. This research was aimed determine causal agent symptoms. Following incubation a humid chamber, symptomatic evolved water-soaked lesions with presence white mycelium sclerotia development. Fungal isolations molecular characterization performed Sclerotinia sclerotiorum identified as rose neck. Therefore, when observed, S. incidence should be considered avoid possible outbreaks.

The First Report of Postharvest Stem Rot of Kohlrabi Caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in Korea
In March 2014, a kohlrabi stem rot sample was collected from the cold storage room of Daegwallyong Horticultural Cooperative, Korea. White and fuzzy mycelial growth was observed on the stem, symptomatic of stem rot disease. The pathogen was isolated from the infected stem and cultured on potato dextrose agar for further fungal morphological observation and to confirm its pathogenicity, accordin...
متن کاملEffect of Methyl Jasmonate and Sucrose on Endogenous Non-structural Carbohydrates in Petals and Leaves of Cut ‘First Red’ Roses (Rosa hybrida L.)
Effects of exogenously applied methyl jasmonate (MeJA) and sucrose on vase life and non-structural carbohydrate concentration in petals and leaves of cut ‘First Red’ roses were investigated. Roses were placed in sealed plastic containers and received MeJA vapour treatment (0.1 μL MeJA L-1) for 24 h at 20°C. Flowers were then placed in individual bottles containing 0 or 2% (v/v) sucrose solution...
متن کاملShading Impact on Qualitative Characteristics and Chlorophyll Content of Cut Rose (Rosa hybrida cv. Avalanche)
Light intensity is considered a limiting factor in greenhouse rose production. The main aim of this experiment was to evaluate the effect of shading treatments (0, 25, 50, and 65% shading) on quality and chlorophyll content of cut rose (Rosa hybrida cv. Avalanche), under greenhouse conditions. The experiment was planned in randomized completely block design with four replications. All shoots we...
متن کاملTemperature and Postharvest Performance of Rose (Rosa hybrida L. ‘First Red’) and Gypsophila (Gypsophila paniculata L. ‘Bristol Fairy’) Flowers
The respiration of cut flowers of rose (Rosa hybrida L. ‘First Red’) and gypsophila (Gypsophila paniculata L. ‘Bristol Fairy’) increased exponentially with increasing respiration, with a Q10 value between 0 and 10°C of 3 for both flowers. The vase life of the flowers was negatively affected by simulated transport at higher temperatures whereas dry storage for 5 days at 0°C resulted in a vase li...
متن کاملNitrate and potassium uptake by greenhouse roses (Rosa hybrida) along successive flower-cut cycles: a model and its calibration
Rose (Rosa hybrida L.) plants grown for cut-flower production in greenhouses produce flowers in flushes year-round. Crop models for this system must handle the cyclical nature of productivity, which is determined by the horticultural production methods. Nutrition was not accounted for in previous rose growth models, since little is known about uptake of the essential nutrients by rose roots. Th...
